Beautiful Landscaping

Beautiful landscaping announces to the world that your home is well cared for. It brings plenty of enjoyment to you as the home owner, and brings pleasure to your neighbors. It's also a great selling tool, when that time rolls around. But what if you don't have a green thumb? Or maybe your yard is too wet, or too dry, or too sandy or too ? well, you get the idea.

It's hard to find any yard that is ideally suited. They all seem to have a problem of some sort. The first thing you'll want to do is head straight to your garden center. Before you buy a single plant, take the time to read the descriptions that go along with each plant. They usually tell you what kind of soil, sunlight and temperature is required.

You'll also be able to see what kind of plants you find appealing. Do you like lots of color? Or do you prefer the serenity of a simple design? Larger garden centers also offer lawn art, such as fountains or landscape rocks. These can add texture and interest to the most boring of yards. If you have the space, a garden bench or chair can be a charming addition.

While you are browsing, someone is sure to ask if you need help. Be ready with your questions and if you're not prepared to spend any money just yet, tell them so. Let them know you're in the planning stages. They'll probably be quite happy to share information and make suggestions. Take notes.

When you return home, sit in front of your home and envision how you might like it to appear. If you have your notes with you, consult them for ideas on what might work. The timid gardener will probably go back and purchase one or a few plants. Be sure to follow the directions for planting and watering. Make additions here and there and you'll be rewarded with outdoor beauty. At the very least, place something attractive in a container by your front door.

If you don't have confidence in making your own choices, most garden centers have people on staff who will handle the landscaping for you. Let them know your budget and any particulars you would like. They'll draw up a plan for your approval and can even do all the work for you.

However you go about it, paying attention to your landscaping pays off handsomely.

STORAGE IDEA!

Pack a couple of needles, some thread wound onto a small card, a couple of buttons, and a safety pin or two into a film canister. This sewing kit is perfect to toss into your purse, briefcase, or send away to school with your college student.

A film canister is just right for housing a roll of postage stamps.

You can keep pills separate when you're traveling by storing them in a labeled assortment of film canisters. [If you're traveling outside the country, keep prescription drugs in their original containers.]

You can use a film canister to store small nails, screws, nuts or bolts.

Fill a film canister with change and keep it in your glove compartment for parking meters or toll booths.

The tight seal on the lid of the film canister makes it an excellent container for matches to take backpacking or camping.

Store earrings, rings, pendants, and necklaces in their own individual canisters.

Use a handful of canisters to store paper clips, rubber bands, and other small supplies to keep your desk drawer neat.

While camping or boating, keep your money rolled up and stored in a film canister. If you tip your canoe, the canister will float.
